 Founded in 4 century BC during the Roman Empire, Alania was a famous pirate fleet base.
This still resembles a fortress, built by pirates, the main historic building goroda.Cherez Alaniyu were all land and sea routes to Alexandria. Here was located one of the most important shipyards of the time. With the 13 century the city was the winter residence of the Sultan.
